Terrence A. Duffy
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Terrence A. Duffy serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CME Group.

He is responsible for overseeing the world’s leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace. In 2021, 4.9 billion contracts were traded at CME Group.

Previously, Duffy served as Executive Chairman and President of CME Group since 2012 and as Executive Chairman since 2007. He served as Chairman of the Board of CME and CME Holdings since April 2002 and as Executive Chairman since October 2006. He was Vice Chairman of the Board of CME Holdings Inc. from its formation in August 2001 and of the Board of CME from 1998 to April 2002. He was President of TDA Trading, Inc. from 1981 to 2002. He has been a CME member since 1981 and a Board member since 1995.

Duffy was appointed by President Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in 2003 as a member of the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB), a position he held until 2013. The FRTIB administers the Thrift Savings Plan, a tax-deferred defined contribution (retirement savings) plan for federal employees.

During his tenure, Duffy led the first merger in the futures industry, combining the Chicago Board of Trade and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange in 2007 to create CME Group. The following year, he oversaw the acquisition of the New York Mercantile Exchange, adding the world’s benchmark energy markets to CME Group. In 2018, he spearheaded the company’s acquisition of NEX, which streamlined trading across futures, options, cash and OTC markets. And, in 2021, Duffy embarked on a landmark partnership with Google Cloud to bring expanded access, new products and greater efficiencies to derivatives markets through cloud technology.

Under his leadership, CME Group has received a wide range of industry awards recognizing the exchange, clearing house and product innovation. CME Group has also been recognized as the most valuable exchange brand for the past eight years. Duffy was named CEO of the Year at FOW’s 2018 International Awards. He currently serves as Co-Chair of the Mayo Clinic Greater Chicago Leadership Council. He is Vice Chairman of the CME Group Foundation.

He attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and received a Doctor of Public Service, honoris causa, from Saint Xavier University in 2019 and a Doctor of Humane Letters from DePaul University in 2007.

Sunil Cutinho
Chief Information Officer

Sunil Cutinho has served as Chief Information Officer of CME Group since 2022.

He previously served as President, CME Clearing and as Managing Director, Clearing Operations & Systems. In these roles, he was responsible for collaborating with the company's clearing members and customers to develop clearing solutions for listed and OTC derivatives, including credit, interest rates and foreign exchange. Prior to joining CME Clearing, Cutinho served as a Director of Enterprise Architecture in the Technology Division. Prior to joining the company in 2002, Cutinho gained more than 14 years of technology experience including various positions at CNA Insurance, Proxicom, VISA International and GDS.

    Lynne Fitzpatrick
    Chief Financial Officer

    Lynne Fitzpatrick has served as CME Group’s Chief Financial Officer since April 2023.

    She is responsible for overseeing the company’s corporate finance, accounting, investor relations, treasury, real estate, business development, corporate strategy, strategic investments, pricing and procurement functions. Previously, she served as Senior Managing Director & Deputy Financial Officer since 2022, and as Managing Director of Corporate Development and Treasurer since 2017. She has held positions of increasing responsibility within the finance organization since joining the company in 2006.

    Prior to joining CME Group, Fitzpatrick worked as an investment banker at Credit Suisse and UBS.

    She earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Brown University and an MBA with honors from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.

    Julie Holzrichter
    Chief Operating Officer

    Julie Holzrichter has served as Chief Operating Officer of CME Group since 2014.

    She is responsible for leading the company’s global operations and clearing and post-trade services divisions. She oversees CME Group's Market Operations including the Global Command Center, which is the first point of contact for customers using CME Group's Globex electronic production systems. She also leads CME Group's Trading Floor Operations, Global Market Solutions and Services, Data Centers and Critical Infrastructure, Global Security, and Business Continuity and Crisis Management functions. Over the course of her more than 25 years with the company, Holzrichter has held a variety of positions with increasing levels of responsibility including Senior Managing Director, Global Operations and Managing Director, CME Globex Services and Technology Integration.

    Jonathan Marcus
    Senior Managing Director and General Counsel

    Jonathan Marcus has served as Senior Managing Director and General Counsel of CME Group since October 2022.

      As the company’s chief legal advisor, Marcus oversees the company's compliance, enterprise risk management, legal and market regulation functions. Prior to joining CME Group, Marcus most recently worked in private practice as a partner at Reed Smith LLP, where he specialized in derivatives regulation, litigation and enforcement. He previously served as General Counsel of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) from 2013 to 2017, advising the commission on a wide range of issues, including implementation of the Dodd-Frank Act and digital asset regulation. Marcus also served as the CFTC's Deputy General Counsel for Litigation and as an Assistant to the Solicitor General of the United States. He held senior roles in Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom's Derivatives Group and Covington & Burling's Appellate and Supreme Court Group. Marcus began his career as a clerk for Judge José A. Cabranes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He holds a bachelor's degree from Yale and a J.D. from Yale Law School.

      Tim McCourt
      Senior Managing Director, Global Head of Equity and FX Products

      Tim McCourt has served as Senior Managing Director, Global Head of Equity and Foreign Exchange Products for CME Group since 2022.

          He is responsible for leading the development and execution of the company’s global equity index, foreign exchange, cryptocurrency and alternative investment product strategies. He serves on the CME Ventures Investment Committee and the S&P Dow Jones Indices U.S. Advisory Panel. Before joining CME Group in 2013 as Global Head of Equity Products, McCourt worked for the Royal Bank of Scotland, where he was responsible for building and managing the Americas Index and Delta One trading book. Prior to RBS, he held a senior trading role with JPMorgan in New York, spending 10 years with the Equity Derivatives Group. McCourt holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Boston College and an MBA from The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

          Previously, he served as Chief Financial Officer since 2015. He also served as Managing Director, Corporate Development and Finance, and Managing Director, Corporate Finance and Deputy Chief Financial Officer, since joining the company in 2003.

          Before joining CME Group, Pietrowicz served as Chief Financial Officer for The Merchants’ Exchange, an electronic commodities exchange based in Chicago. He also held financial leadership positions for Ameritech, after beginning his career as an auditor for Arthur Andersen.

          Derek Sammann

          Derek Sammann serves as CME Group's Senior Managing Director, Global Head of Commodities, Options & International Markets.

          He is responsible for leading the development, execution and management of CME Group's global Commodities portfolio, including the Energy, Metals and Agricultural business lines. He also globally leads the company's cross-asset class Options business and its growth strategy across international markets. Prior to assuming his current role, Sammann served as Senior Managing Director, Global Head of Commodities & Options Products since 2014. Since joining CME Group in September 2006, Sammann also has served as Senior Managing Director of Interest Rates and FX Products, and as Managing Director, Global Head of Foreign Exchange. Prior to joining CME Group, Sammann acquired more than 16 years of sell-side trading experience in the global FX market, including serving as Managing Director, Global Head of FX Options and Structured Products at Crédit Agricole Corporate & Investment Bank in London. He also held senior level positions with Crédit Agricole Indosuez in London, Banque Indosuez in Paris and Cooper, Neff & Associates in Chicago.           Suzanne Sprague has served as Senior Managing Director & Global Head of Clearing and Post-Trade Services for CME Group since 2022.

          She joined the company in 2002 and has held numerous roles and leadership positions in financial management and risk management since that time. During her tenure, she has played a key role in the company’s development of risk management policy. Since 2015, she served as Managing Director, Credit & Liquidity Risk, Risk Policy & Banking, overseeing CME Clearing’s exposure to counterparty credit risk, liquidity risk management and financial performance, acceptable collateral and collateral services, risk management policies and procedures, financial operations, and banking. She earned a bachelor’s degree with concentrations in finance and international business from Indiana University and a master’s degree in financial markets from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

          Sean Tully
          Senior Managing Director, Global Head of Financial and OTC Products

          Sean Tully has served as Senior Managing Director, Global Head of Rates & OTC Products for CME Group since 2022.

          He is responsible for leading the development, execution and management of the company’s interest rate, cash and OTC products portfolio. Previously he served as Senior Managing Director, Financial and OTC Products of CME Group since 2014. Before joining CME Group in 2012, Tully most recently served as Managing Director, Global Head of Fixed Income Trading at WestLB in London. During his tenure at WestLB, he held roles of increasing responsibility including Managing Director, Regional Head of Derivatives, Americas and Managing Director, Global Head of Rates, Emerging Markets and Credit Trading in London. He also traded interest rate derivatives at Citibank and Greenwich Capital, running the global team in the USD interest rate swaps at Citi, and as a proprietary trader at Greenwich Capital.

          Kendal Vroman
          Senior Managing Director, International and Optimization Services

          Kendal (Ken) Vroman serves as CME Group’s Chief Transformation Officer.

          Officer. He is responsible for overseeing the company’s migration process as part of its 10-year partnership with Google Cloud to transform global derivatives markets through cloud adoption. He also leads the planning and execution function across the organization. Prior to assuming his current role, he most recently served as Senior Managing Director, International and Optimization Services.

          Julie Winkler has served as Chief Commercial Officer of CME Group since 2016.

          She leads the company's sales, product marketing, research and product development, data analytics, and innovation lab functions, as well as the data services business line. Previously, she served as Senior Managing Director, Research, Product Development and Index Services of CME Group since 2014 and as Managing Director, Research and Product Development since 2007. Winkler joined the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) as a Staff Investigator in the Office of Investigations and Audits, and in 1998, she joined the Business Development area as an Economist in the Research and Strategic Analysis group. She was promoted to Managing Director, Business Development in 2004. She also served as Vice President, Business Development, where she had management responsibility for the growth and development of the Financial Product Research and Development, Market Data Products and Services, Training and Education, Corporate Strategy and Business Development Administration areas. Winkler holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration in finance from Valparaiso University and an MBA in finance and derivatives markets with highest honors from Loyola University.
